My advise is to go on ebay and buy a 2nd hand Xbox that has been chipped.
OK, I re-read your original post and what you are after is a wireless media streamer :) It was in your post further down that you mention "fully control your PC from your TV" which is, as things stand, quite impossible :)īut anyway, my friend has a wireless media centre and it works good, the only problem with the ones you buy from the shops is that you are locked into what ever codecs they support, I noticed with the link you supplied that one of them doesn't even support DivX, so that counts out most of the movies you have on your PC. How exactly do you want to control your PC, what kind of controlling do you have in mind?Įdit : I have no option to edit my posts :( Oh well, post whoring is an option :) I can also surf the net, and lots of other cool things. With media streamers you buy from the shop there is no chance of doing that, and also they stream well known codecs.
Your best bet if you want to control your PC is by using Xbox or ps3 as they would have software that has some control panel that would let you do things to your PC :) If the software doiesn'tr exist you could always write it. All you can do is map folders on your PC and stream the content wether they be mp3's, movies etc. It works great.Īll wireless media centers work with the same concept :) The thing is you can't control your PC through it though. I personally use my Xbox (1st gen) as a media centre and do so wirelessly. Why don't I just buy it? Because I want to know if anybody here has bought that or a similar product and tell me how it went. Please see the video, clicking D-Link TV. The ones where you can hook one up to a TV that has foxtel for example, then put the other extender in your bedroom and you can watch foxtel from there.īut you will be looking for an extender that has a VGA/HDMI connection.Ĭheck this out. Having your TV as the screen is easy as most new TV's use VGA or HDMI plugs, so it's just a matter of plugging your PC into your TV.īut you want no physical connection to your TV? Hmm, maybe look into those wireless video extenders. How far away is your PC going to be from your TV? Hmm that sounds either a bit difficult or impossible. more so, to be able to fully control my PC, wirelessly, using a TV as my main screen. I really need what the call a "Wireless Media Player". if I did, there would be no point on starting this thread, right? I also won't attach a PC directly to the TV.
I already have a Wii, and I'm really happy with it :) I really don't want to buy a video game console. I mean, you've taken the time to reply and make some recommendations, and I do appreciate them, but it's like I'm asking for advice on buying a car, and then everyone recommends to buy a motorcycle, because it's cheaper, faster and can get you to move between places, the same as a car :(
